Workshops: Hardanger
A traditional technique from Norway, using the counted method and worked from a chart, whilst the use of sumptuous hand-dyed threads in this workshop give it a modern feel. Up to four pieces can be produced, ranging from a little purse to a large square, which could be applied to a bag.
Hardanger forms part of the Norwegian national costume and is traditionally worked white on white - but you can see from the photos how stunning it is in colour too. There are several building blocks to Hardanger embroidery - Kloster Blocks being one of them - which help to produce the basic form and shape.
